Paul Franson is a pal, but that doesn’t mean I can’t write about him. Or his writer-ly efforts to promote the good life in Napa Valley.
Paul Franson, the face behind NapaLife.com
Paul was one of my favorite staff writers, contributing to a website I started in 2003, ilovenapa.com. I knew that stories assigned to Paul would be perfectly written and completed before deadline. The fundamentals of a good journalist.
When I sold ilovenapa.com, Paul and I each moved on to other business ventures. Paul started his own weekly e-newsletter, NapaLife, for which he charges $1 a week. NapaLife has GREAT information for anyone living in the valley – wine events, comings and goings in the valley, concert and movie schedules.
I have been a paid subscriber since the day Paul started his venture. I suggest you send him a note and ask for a free e-sample and then decide if you want to subscribe.
I look at the goals of NapaLife and napaman.com – the promotion of the highlights of Napa Valley – as being complementary. Paul tends to tell what’s happening in the week ahead… while I use my skills to comment critically on what I’ve already tried or done, a sort of canary in the coal mine for Napa Valley food and wine followers.
In addition to his e-newsletter, Paul has written a weekly Napa-centric column in the Napa Valley Register for nine years. He also appears each Friday on KVON 1440 with This Week in Wine Country. Paul’s print stories often appear in Napa Sonoma, Wine Enthusiast, Wines & Vines, Wine Business Monthly and Food & Wine. He has lived in Napa Valley two years longer than I have -- 12 years.
Send Paul an email to request a sample of NapaLife: write [email protected]. Subscriptions are $50 per year; full details at www.napalife.com.
