Hey, every once in a while, you find a GREAT commercial candy that hooks you.
My new, 4 pm, go-to favorite, afternoon pick-me-up is a cup of perfectly brewed English Breakfast tea and a few sticks snapped off a Canadian Dark Chocolate KitKat bar.
Note: I said CANADIAN Dark Chocolate KitKat bar, which has NO resemblance to the pathetic excuse of a candy bar made by Hershey in the US.
Years ago, when KitKat rights were sold to North American chocolate-makers, Nestle secured the rights to make KitKat in Canada and Hershey got the rights to make the bar in America.
The formula for the two bars has never been the same but the taste difference now is now even more pronounced, given that both manufacturers have launched “Dark Chocolate” versions of the namesake bar.
The Nestle Canadian bar contains 70 percent by weight real dark chocolate. In fact, chocolate is the first ingredient on the label.
By contrast, “sugar” is the first ingredient in the US-made Hershey bar.
In taste, there is no comparison. The Nestle-made Canadian bar has GREAT snap, GREAT dark chocolate flavor, GREAT length. Take a bite, then have a sip of tea and you’re ready to go back or another bite. I really love the chocolate intensity of this snack.
Close your eyes, take one bite of the Hershey Dark Chocolate KitKat bar and you will ask yourself,” So where’s the dark chocolate?” The bar is too sweet, and despite the label claim, has no dark chocolate influence. As well, it has an edgy, chemical-like finish.
2011 Stockpile Strategy: If you are heading to Canada, stock up on Nestle Dark Chocolate KitKat bars while there. Even better, think about bringing napaman a few bars as a way of saying Thanks for this tasty tip!
